Quick Tourniquet

The CAT Tourniquet

The CAT Tourniquet is the primary existing system on the market for soldiers and medical staff. Its design has not been updated since its conception in World War 1.

The updated design

Concept Dev.

The Quick Tourniquet only had 2 goals at its core.  They were to increase usability while making the unit more comfortable to its user.

At this stage the decision was made to switch to a pneumatic solution rather than a ratcheting one.

Band / Pneumatic Testing

Proof of Concept Testing

The Quick Tourniquet band is composed of a bladder and multiple valving systems that allow for the pneumatic system to properly introduce pressure to the affected limb.

User testing confirmed that this method was both more reliable and more easy to use than existing systems.

P1 Series Prototype Assembly

The P1 prototype functioned as it should with 7 of 7 sequential punctures of the Co2 cartridge.

Sealing and reliability were in need of optimization and required a P2 revision.

Rev. 2 CAD Assembly

Optimized P2. CAD Assembly With Updated Pneumatic Mechanism

Revised Design Optomized for Plastic

A Look Inside

The P2 assembly contained a new keying and sealing process that proved to be more reliable and easy to use than the previous prototype.  This unit is outfitted with a durable plastic hosing that helped reduce production costs.
